Gemi Teas Colombo Ltd was established officially on April 01st 2002 by Senarath Udugama alongside a group of professionals.

Our production facilities are in Homagama (an outer suburb on Colombo) in Sri Lanka. In the beginning our main focus was on supplying tea (in a patented tea bag) to the Airline Catering Industry in Europe. Since then, we have diversified our product category to include the general public by providing tea products top major supermarkets and hospitality organizations in countries such as Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Nigeria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Germany and China.

 
Our business model from day one has been one of “networking and collaboration”, hence we mainly focus on developing customers and partners who are looking for private label (white label) products. As a result of this business model, we stay current with tides in the food and beverage market and are quick to adopt to trends in consumption, certification, and packaging.

With close to 20 years of experience in this business we focus on providing our customers (big or small) with an efficient and end-to-end service. This includes the joint development of products considering regional variations and current trends in the markets. Our management team consists of a set of dedicated professionals including active involvement by the second generation of the Udugama family.

Products and Packaging

Our current product range includes Black teas, Green teas, White teas, organic teas, Herbal teas (Rooibos, Chamomile, Hibiscus, and Rosehips, Peppermint & Liquorice) as well as fruit infusions. With the large range of private label customers form all across the globe we have proven expertise in flavouring teas from earl grey to more exotic flavour combinations. Our flavoured range includes and is not limited to Earl Grey, Jasmine, Lemon, forest Fruit, Strawberry, Citrus, Mint. We also infuse our organic teas with organic flavors and fruit pieces/ flowers to make a range of “dressed up teas”. We also provide certified ayurvedic tea blends that has functional health benefits such as Stress Relief Tea, Slim Fast Tea. Our packing capabilities are as diverse as our tea range. We can produce traditional tag and string tea bags, pot tea bags, Enveloped tea bags, foil tea bags as well as pyramid tea bags. This is supplemented by our patented handmade tea bag line that includes large catering tea bags, “see through” biodegradable tea bags.
